"On your last day on earth, the person you became will meet the person you could have become."
Wow. Let that one sink in for a moment...
Don't let what others think of you...or what others think you should be doing or not doing...take root in your soul. Otherwise, you will set limits on yourself and what you can achieve.
Have a great week everyone!

Whatever your goals are for 2018 - remember - keep them S.M.A.R.T.
A loose goal such as: "I want to lose weight", will never last...or have staying power.
On the other hand...a goal such as: "I want to lose 10 lbs by Feb. 28th by getting at least 7,000 steps per day and no longer drinking soda".
Now that goal has staying power. So - write your goal or goals out for 2018 in your office. Put it in your phone for a daily reminder. And make sure it is S.M.A.R.T.
Have a great week everyone. I will not be posting as much as usual due to competing priorities.
Please use the BLOG ARCHIVES on the right to check out previous posts. Lots of good info in there.
As this year comes to a close, it's always nice to take time to reflect on what transpired in 2017 from a work perspective, and to take inventory of your progress against professional and personal goals.
I think something that I have to keep in mind is that the organization I work for is not responsible or even interested in my professional development. I mean, they want my work for them to be an all consuming endeavor...but ultimately...if I am unhappy, I need to identify the avenues that fulfill that professional drive beyond my 8-5.
I write a little about this in my book...but there are a about 128 hours in a week that exist beyond the 40 hours you work.
What are you doing with those hours?
How are those hours satisfying your inner drive?
Does the lack of development beyond your job translate into professional frustration?
Could dedicated development during those 128 hours translate into a more fulfilling work week?
I don't know that answer to these questions - but I think it's important to ask yourself these questions and evaluate how you invest that time. Of course, some of it is filled with time at the gym, grocery shopping, family, volunteer work, other interests. Those are all important. But, what about other business interests? What about classes at night to help you pivot into the next phase of your career in your current field...or a completely different line of work?
Give it some thought. As Abe Lincoln said, "Give me 6 hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend 4 hours sharpening the ax." Take some time sharpening your ax before you dig into 2018.
Happy New Year everyone! Be safe.
As you look for potential places to interview, a place that has some stability might be important. Here is a brief video summarizing the top pharma companies and look at other aspects of their business. Enjoy
Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you get to enjoy some time with family and friends today. There is truly nothing more important. Enjoy!
I love "Top..." lists. Especially now as we end 2017. Over the next few weeks, you will likely see more of this from me. Here is what Fierce Pharma sees as the top 15 currently in biotech. Click on any of the names below and it will take you to the full article.
Obviously, some of these companies are buyout targets by bigger players...but consider doing some research and you may find opportunities to interview and potentially land a new job.
