I hope all is well. Let's dig into another curve ball interview question. Please take time to read the previous 5 curve ball interview questions if you missed them in previous posts.

Have you ever been on a team when somebody wasn't pulling their own weight? What did you do? What were the results of your actions and of the larger project that you were workin on?
Ok - this is a tough one. I think an approach here (assuming you have an example ready of when someone truly wasn't helping carry the load) would be to emphasize that when someone doesn't carry their load...it makes it difficult for the team to accomplish what they set out to do...but also...a team needs a diversity of thought and perspective that EVERYONE can contribute to. Otherwise, the end project isn't three dimensional in nature. The end result may appear more flat and typical...and unique and atypical.
My hope is that in your example, you and the team didn't kick this person off of the team...but instead...you took time to individually pull this person aside and counseled them. Maybe this person had some personal issues taking place...maybe they didn't understand the expectations clearly...maybe they didn't understand the objective. Whatever it was that was keeping them from fully contributing.
The key here is that whatever your response is...you want it to emphasize positive actions that you took to improve the situation. Often times our default is to get frustrated and upset with others that don't seem to want to carry the load. If you communicate that type of approach...the interviewer will begin to assume that is how you approach most of your difficult conversations or difficult interactions. The interviewer is wanting to trend out the arch of your behaviors to determine if you are a good fit...or not.
Now - answering how you handled the situation isn't enough. You will need to fully answer the question with the results of your actions in working with this individual...and the results of the larger project. Something to remember here...all too often we get multi layered interview questions and we anwer only one part of the question...we forget to answer the remaining questions...which is vital if you want your response to be a strong example of your abilities, etc.
Remember - as you communicate the results - results are often measured in numbers (a 43% increase in sales, 25% increase in new business, etc.), but - in this case - you may want to use other proof sources such as emails or pictures of you and the team with the project - or some of that nature. You might communicate that your relationship with this individual is stronger than ever and we mentor eachother through difficult times.
